It's a complete disgrace that something like this should happen to a young boy. I was beaten myself by a crowd of republicans from the Lenadoon area because I was over visiting a catholic friend (or so I thought). I learnt a good lesson from my experience and that was to never trust the other side. However, I think that it is sad that this is what it has come to, were both sides of the divide can't trust one another. Yet again, who can blame us. It won't be a few cuts and bruises Stephen will be left with, he will be left with a permanent scar - a constant reminder of what happened but worst of all a bitter view and a sense of mistrust within the catholic community. What annoys me more than anything is that it was a taxi driver that motivated this attack. A taxi driver is a public servant whos job it is is to serve the people no matter what their race or relgion might be. In my eyes he is an animal that has no role in society. HE SHOULD BE LOCKED UP!!!!!!!

The west of the city does get a bad name (I'm always a bit wary when I'm up there and have to admit that I so far haven't put my "Supporting Our Wee Country with the Newsletter" sticker on my car window yet precisely because I do venture up that way semi-regularly) but this story was truly shocking for any part of Northern Ireland.

Hi Guys. First time on the site. Good stuff you have here.

Can I first and foremost say that I am absolutely disgusted at what happened to Stephen Donaghy. This is a total disgrace, and I can only hope that Stephen managed to catch the taxi plate number on the vehicle and report it to the police. This idiot of a driver needs to be taken out of circulation.

I am from West Belfast, the Poleglass Estate, and I can honestly state that this is not representative of the good people that live in this part of the city. I can only hope that nothing like this happens again.
