It's all gone rather quiet here JG.

The unpalatable fact for Southerner socialist(?) supporters of SF, like yourself is that SF's popularity in NI is not based on their left-wing, internationalist credentials.

They are a sectarian and racist party.

They use the anti-Brit and on occasions the anti-Prod(or Unionist if you prefer) card to rally the faithful. This is manifested from the ridiculous (pressing for red postboxes to be painted green) to the downright nasty (arguiing against a sports club in Magherafelt getting financial support because football is a "protestant sport".) They have become the biggest nationalist party in NI because a large number of voters believe they are better than the SDLP at socking it to the Brits and the Prods.

Sorry to break it to you but they are a mirror image of the DUP, just rather more media savvy at hiding it.

"What community is it again who won't talk to their neighbours' elected reps?"

JG, the DUP not the "Unionist" community as you put it don't talk to the Republicans. Are guilty of just sloppy language or the usual Shinner tactic of demonising all Unionists?

" I could give you all sorts of reasons why SF are not xenophobic and why they don't want to wipe out British culture "

Xenophobia is the irrational hatred of outsiders, SF are more specifically guilty of a hatred of Britain and British culture.

I can give you numerous more examples in addition to the ones provided by Beano to prove this.

But being a fair kind of a guy, first I'll give you a chance to give, let's say 5 reasons why my statement above is wrong.

If they're valid reasons then I'll look pretty stupid posting my proofs after won't I?

A persuading argument indeed JG. I'd like to come back on some of those points about the use of MOPEry but it's starting to get a bit OT so I'll save it for another day.

SF/republicans generally have no time for Orange marches commemorating the 12th July, not only opposing 'contentious' marches, but stirring up contention where there was none before. They think Ulster Scots (culture and dialect) is a joke and want everything British removed from public life in Northern Ireland. One councillor has even been reported as being against funding "soccer" because it's a "sport for protestants". So tell me again how they're not xenophobic?
I'm aware of what it means. It's generally used by unionists as a short-cut to thinking or when nationalists make them uncomfortable by bringing up their shameful past. I could give you all sorts of reasons why SF are not xenophobic and why they don't want to wipe out British culture but I'd be met with "they would say that, wouldn't they" or words to that... then I'd reference past events and probably be accused of MOPEry... yawn yawn yawn...
You raise 2 separate points JG and I'll deal with them as such.

MOPEry
A MOPE is someone who feels oppressed even when they're not - I don't think my post can be classed as such since it doesn't claim anywhere that I've been oppressed. All I'm doing is pointing out that monetary donations to a bunch of fascists like Sinn Fein, who only believe in one type of Irish, is morally reprehensible. If you disagree, please feel free to tell me which particular statements you take issue with.

"campaign of racial and religious superiority"
"For many of us a phrase like:
"campaign of racial and religious superiority"
is synonymous with Unionism's dark history. People in glass houses...

The operative word being history. I'm sure from your statement we'd disagree about the extent of discrimination that existed, but it seems we converge on the time frame.

I have no doubt that Sinn Fein would like to remove any trace of British culture from this island. Perhaps "racial and religious" were the wrong words, but xenophobia is just as unacceptable.
