it seems perfectly in keeping with our peoples relationship with the south. I cannot help but feel these people ability to function, and indeed the lack of action by both goverments, is a sign of the contempt us and the cannon fodder northern Catholics are held in.

Rubbish Beano, haha no pun intended
Give them teeth!

I myself have witnessed a lorry with ROI plates fly-tipping in NI. This particular lorry was obviously based in ROI, and dumping in NI.

A harmonisation of No dumping laws North and South could only be to the benefit of the people living in the areas affected by such tipping.
As far as a UK wide scale is concerned, I agree fully, however I believe it should be extended to the ROI also. Partnership. No dumpimg FULL STOP.

By the way, if it is Ni companies importing the shit, why does your original post sound like Ulster folk are being dumped on (hahahahaha) by the ROI??

I re-iterate, this is a perfect opportunity for all of us to work together to lessen the impact our modern selfish lives have on the environment that we all love and cherish

I'm not sure what benefit a cross-border body would bring. The companies dumping in NI are illegally importing waste, but they are based in NI and as such can and should be prosecuted here. The source of the rubbish, as far as I can tell, is irrelevant. If customs can't stop petrol being smuggled I doubt some toothless government agency is going to be much more successful with rubbish.

As far as the actual production of waste goes, I agree that some sort of solution is desperately needed, but again am not sure what benefits a cross-border body would bring to the table besides economies of scale, which could possibly be better maximised UK-wide.

Is this not a perfect opportunity for a Cross Border Body, with an all-island remit, putting forward laws (obviously to be ratified in both jurisdictions ) that mean no-one can abuse the border in such a disgusting manner.
I'm not trying to score points for such bodies, but surely if illegal waste is being dumped in NI, originating in the ROI, then we have a problem that affects both parts of Ireland. Hence a solution that deals with the ever increasing amounts of waste produced by all of us. Except tree huggers of course.
If you believe the archaeoligists, who have dug down through layers of human implements and rubbish, we have had (roughly- it's been a long day)
Pre Historic
Stone Age
Bronze Age
Iron Age
Dark Age
Middle Age
Present Day,
when archeos of the future dig through our shite, and find nappys, circuit boards, and Curleys bags, will we be known as the Plastic Age??
Its time to take action now, and stop such crap being produced/consumed/landfilled. We are intelligent beings (apparently) so we should start work on ways of minimising the massive impact we have on our beautiful planet. My Ma (God Rest Her) always said that the thing about common sense is, ..."it's not very common". I reckon she's right.
