Btw criticising the Iceland game as a poor performance was fair enough, it was the fact that the press persisted trying to hound him out after beating Spain.

I've been a big defender of Lawrie after he left. I felt that he left having made a huge contribution which outweighed the unfortunate way he left. I also was very much opposed to the Telegraph led criticism which almost led to him leaving at the start of the campaign. Steven Beacom etc trying to throw their weight around like they were the Sun and the Mirror. I'd be disappointed if he returned to manage another international team after treating us like a stepping stone. Fair enough the guy is entitled to look for a job, but it was my understanding that he wanted day to day contact with players.
