Ulster Unionist David Archer Junior has been elected to Lisburn City Council despite withdrawing from the race a couple of weeks ago due to a late night "incident" in the council offices.
Little information came out about the 'incident' but Mr Archer Jr, a local businessman, said he was resigning 'forthwith' and at the same time withdrew himself from the poll. However it was too late to change the ballot papers, which had already been printed, and it now looks likely that there will be a by-election for his seat.
If the other parties agreed, the UUP could co-opt someone else in his place - but something tells me the DUP will force a by-election, hoping that since they had by far the largest share of the vote with 40%, they could win the seat.
