I just came down the stairs, ready to go to bed and noticed something red folded up on the carpet. On picking it up I noticed it was a Jimmy Spratt campaign leaflet. It then listed all the reasons why he is such a good candidate and what he plans to do for South Belfast at Westminster...
Did it hell...
No, instead the leaflet brags "It's a two horse race between the DUP and SDLP... [blah blah] ... A vote for the UUP is a vote for an SDLP victory in South Belfast." This is the exact sort of shite, lazy, scaremongering "campaigning" that has pissed me off about the DUP so much over the last few weeks!!
Obviously it claims that the bookies' odds prove what they say is true. What they fail to mention is that Mr Eastwood was on the news tonight saying a lot of money has come in for the Ulster Unionists over the last couple of days - do they know something Spratt doesn't do you think?
Oh and get this, they then go on to quote Ulster's own Pravda, the Daily Ireland, as saying that Spratt should win - and we all know that the Daily Ireland never lies, is economical with the truth, or prints blatant propaganda to suit its own ends.
The real reason the Daily Ireland want the DUP to triumph is because then SF/IRA can sit and point and say "Look at those silly DUP Unionists huffing and puffing - how can you expect us to deal with people who just say no to everything?" and it's much easier to blame Paisley's "No, Never, Not an inch!" cheerleaders for the breakdown of the peace process than it is Ulster Unionists who took a leap of faith and showed beyond doubt that the SF/IRA proved they couldn't be trusted.
I had been thinking about voting for Geraldine Rice, the Alliance candidate, but thanks Jimmy, you've just helped me make up my mind - I'll bite the bullet and vote for Michael McGimpsey!
DON'T FALL FOR THE DUP PROPAGANDA!
