Republican Terrorists in Dishonesty Shocker
The IRA admitted to killing someone today. They killed a 14 year old schoolgirl, blamed the army and then proceeded to retaliate against their own heinous crime by killing a soldier. They apologised today, 30 years later - so I guess that's all OK then.
The girl in question was Kathleen Feeney from the Brandywell area of Londonderry. The IRA initially claimed the girl was shot by the army, which will come as a total shock to those of us who always believed the criminals and murderers in the IRA where trustworthy chaps who wouldn't lie to us.
The army maintained that although they came under attack in the Quarry Street area, no soldiers returned fire.
Follow up:
Remember; this was not a crime. "You can't be a republican and a criminal." The IRA Army Council, being the legitimate government of all-Ireland, cannot be guilty of crimes. Kathleen Feeney's family will have to be content in the knowledge that Kathleen was obviously a General in the Occupying British Army because we all know, thanks to Clare Short, that the IRA never targeted civilans.

A few interesting points raised at A Tangled Web on this:
- No sign of an apology for the innocent soldier's family?
- How many other times have Sinn Fein/the IRA lied about 'who shot first'?
- How many times have IRA apologists touted this poor girl's name as another 'victim of the British military occupation of the 6 counties'?

, i was greatly shocked by the link to the Clare Short speach, how can this woman be so blind? so cruel? Thank God her spineless behaviour -pre gulf war 2- has finished her, these Socalist extremists, who wish to reright all the wrong they've done out of history must be resisted and awarness must be raised as to their full mandate, do you think any one in Birmingham would have voted for this woman if they knew she sympathised with genocidal criminals like the provos? I was just shocked that there was actually a socialist site out there that would actually examine Clare Short's her remarks.
Fair play to them, it's a pity it's one of the few though, most seem to lap up the 'resistance'. I presume its because its easy to get caught up in one romantic flawed ideology if you're already wrapped up in another.

I think that's oversimplifying things a bit but yes I agree, Clare Short's comments only serve to enflame the sense of oppression that these whack-jobs have vested themselves with.
One thing- foreigner? I hope you're not suggesting that the English are 'foreigners' after all the Unionist rehtoric, especially since her dad was from Northern Ireland.

I'm not sure how much emphasis you can put on levels of support for PUP/UDP... considering Paisley was often closer to the loyalist paramilitaries than any man I'd be happy voting for.

i would say that certain fringe parties have at times displayed a more egaliterian rhetoric than the mainstreamers....however these words must be contrasted with some of the deeds of the organisations that they support....similarly i would say that certain politicians have danced on a fine line between politics and violence, and worse still (i feel) totaly abandoned those who , acting on that rhetoric ,tried their best to defend their people, so yeah piont conceded, suppport for a mainstream unionist party does not mean that that a person is against loyalist parmilitantism. but, in terms of S.F. voters, the dup dont kneecap teenagers, S.F.I.R.A. do.

From what he said above, I think he certainly justified it. Whether he supported it or not is debateable. His words come close to support, IMO, but fall just short - probably as he's well aware of the fine line he was treadingl.

Something that hasn't been touched on yet - is the assumption that the IRA killed the girl for the sole reason that they could use her death to justify their 'retaliation'?
