The "Elite" group of the Milk Cup is a group of 4 teams: Northern Ireland, Serbia & Montenegro, Brazil and the USA. Last night Northern Ireland defeated Serbia & Montenegro 3-1! No that's not a mistake, a Northern Ireland team not only scored but did it 3 times in one match AND won! These are many of the same lads who lost to Serbia and Montenegro just a fortnight ago in the Under 19 European Championships.
Follow up:
Tommy Stewart, who scored Northern Ireland's only goal in the Euros in their last match against Germany, hit the target again, scoring the second goal following Kyle Lafferty's opener, before James Bell put the result beyond doubt. This result sees Northern Ireland top of the group as Brazil drew with the USA. Northern Ireland will play Brazil on Wednesday night in Coleraine.
In the Junior division, Co. Tyrone have already handed Paraguay their first ever taste of defeat in the milk cup.
(The Milk Cup is an international youth football tournament organised annually in Northern Ireland. The BBC have a Milk Cup website going, but it's not very good.)
