For God And Ulster
Normally busy roads in Belfast were deserted during this afternoon's rush hour.
As I write, the Broadway end of the Boucher Road is already closed off (by about half a dozen angry looking women and their kids). On coming home from work today I found normally busy roads to be eerily quiet as rush-hour traffic was diverted away by the police.
But just what do these people get up to at night? Well I did a little reading around the BBC website and was disgusted by what I found. As I suspected, women, children and pensioners all suffered at the hands of these loyal sons of Ulster.
Follow up:
"Rioting in Belfast meant ambulance crews were unable to reach a 93-year-old woman who had fallen at her home"
Sick pensioner 'stranded by riot' BBC Online
"Two men hijacked a bus in Bangor, County Down, robbed the passengers then ordered them off the bus before setting it alight on a housing estate."
"In Bangor, a woman in her 70s was injured when she was attacked by a mob throwing stones at her car on Newtownards Road, just 500 metres from her home."
"a pregnant woman and a man were dragged from their car by four men during an attempted hijacking."
"One man was taken to hospital with a gunshot wound to his arm after an incident when soldiers fired live ammunition in the Broadway area. He has since been arrested for attempted murder."
Second night of loyalist violence BBC Online
"A 22-month-old infant sustained a fractured skull when rioters stoned the car the toddler was in in the Fortwilliam area."
Leaders must 'back forces of law' BBC Online
Thugs apparently attacked anything they could find. This battered road sign was surrounded by scorched tarmac.
And all for what? Mindless, indescriminate, senseless, pointless violence for the sake of violence.
A 93 year old woman can't get medical treatment, another in her 70s attacked by a mob. A 22 month old toddler gets his skull smashed, a man and a pregnant woman dragged out of their car.
Heroes all of you.
