Sinner To Advise Tories
Sinn Fein MP for Newry & Armagh Conor Murphy is to attend a fringe debate at the Tory conference where he will take part in a debate with DUP MP Jeffrey Donaldson and UUP MLA David Burnside along with Conservative Northern Ireland spokesman David Lidington. It will be the first time a Sinn Fein member takes part in a debate at the Conservative party's conference.
Follow up:
Speaking before the debate, Murphy said "The British Conservative Party claim to support the Good Friday Agreement. If this is the case then they need to join with us and other pro-Agreement voices..." Hang on a minute. They need to? I don't think they need to do anything to placate Sinn Fein.
Anyway, Murphy went on "... to set as a priority in the time ahead the re-establishment of the political institutions and the implementation of the other outstanding agreement matters." That would be "Other outstanding agreement matters" like Sinn Fein taking their seats on the policing board and supporting the PSNI? Nah, didn't think so.
I think it's time to put your own "pro-agreement" house in order instead of pointing the finger at all the bits of the agreement that you still want to see implemented. People in glass houses and all that.
