Follow up:

I upgraded the b2evolution software that powers the blog to 0.9.2 for some anti-spam stuff and it's been nothing but hassle. Warning: semi-technical stuff ahead - technophobes, go read another post!

Firstly I noticed it doesn't seem to like URLs with two questionmarks for a start (something many of mine have given I use a redirect script to count links out).

I then noticed last night that my RSS feeds were returning 404 errors. The files being called are there, but the blogging software script is executing and having some sort of problems down the line and throwing a 404 (a bit misleading I think). What's weireder is that the script linked above simply calls 'include' on the feed which 404s - but this time it works fine. Better still, the comments feeds work fine! Bizarre indeed. :-/

You'll not get rid of me that easily. I've ended up rolling back to the previous version. No time to footer round the code to see where the upgrade didn't like my hacks (still ain't done my last exam - shouldn't be on here at all!!) but that's what I get for always wanting things better.

Don't say I didn't warn you! You need to get yourself WordPress Beano. Take a backup of your b2evo database and then do a WordPress install. It should be reasonably straightforward, because I understand WordPress is a b2 offshoot.

StadiumForBelfast is running WordPress for it's news section. I'm using that as a testing ground.

If I eventually decide I like it enough to change I may do so. One of the main things I'm worried about is losing my Google Pagerank (for what there is of it) for older posts. I'm fairly sure if I had a day or two I could write a php script to do the import if one doesn't already exist, but I've only begun experimenting with mod rewrite, which might allow me to keep the pages appearing to be in their current location.
