Commenting at Everything Ulster
Those of you who have commented here over the last couple of days will already have noticed the new captcha here (the image/word verification field on the comment form). You've probably seen them before on other blogs but I wanted to point out a couple of technical issues with the Captchas here at EU.
Fed Up With Captcha?
If you don't want to use the verification every time you comment you can simply register as a member of the site. The process is quick and easy and members who are logged in will not see the captcha image when they comment.

The Reason For Captchas
First of all, the reason they're here - they help stop spammers commenting to advertise porn sites, loan sharks and all the rest. Just type whatever is displayed in the right field and you'll be grand (at the minute the EU code is always a combination of numbers, but we'll see how that works out).
Firefox/Mozilla Users
If you type in the wrong code and hit go back to the previous page you will see the original code displayed because Mozilla caches the image for use in the browser history displaying the page exactly as it was when you first loaded it (even when I set the no-cache header). This is to do with the way the browser works and it doesn't seem like it can be changed by anything I can do with code. Internet Explorer users (as of version 6) shouldn't have a problem as IE reloads the image every time.
If you've any issues or queries, either leave a comment here, or me.
