Crusaders Foiled Again in CIS Cup Final
Apparently there was some kind of sporting event in Dublin today, but that was overshadowed by the events at Windsor Park where Crusaders were robbed of the CIS Cup by a mediocre Linfield team.
Linfield were a man up for the duration of the game (I didn't catch the name of this twelfth player, but he didn't seem to have a top of his own yet and had to wear a green one and a whistle instead - this can't be a coincidence) and despite having home advantage (in a cup final, what a joke!) the sides went in at half time with nothing between them after a pretty poor opening 45 minutes.
Follow up:
Within seconds of the kick off for the second half though, Peter Thompson sent Linfield in front, but the Crues responded well and were level within 8 minutes thanks to David Rainey, who fired home after Linfield keeper Alan Mannus parried a shot from Seamus Browne, scoring his 20th goal of the season. The hatchetmen then tortured Linfield for another 20 minutes before Browne fired them into the lead.
Linfield fans were already leaving and the Crues were looking comfortable until, with only 4 minutes of regular time left, Glenn Ferguson sneaked an equaliser and would go on to nick it with his second and Linfield's third in the last minute. Does their jam know no bounds?
