First Election Results In
When the first election results were coming in I ran updates for a short time. The last of these is now here for archive purposes only.
Follow up:
Belfast East
The first results are in and Peter Robinson and Naomi Long are elected in Belfast East. Peter Robinson's transfers are now being calculated and David Ervine's successor as PUP leader, Dawn Purvis is looking strong with 3,045 first preference votes out of the 4,233 quota. Reg Empey's has made it through on the 3rd count.
Belfast North
Minutes later, Nigel Dodds and Gerry Kelly have reached quota in Belfast North. Raymond McCord Sr received 1320 first preferences. Caral Ni Chuilin has also made it in on transfers.
Belfast South
Spratt and McDonnell are both in. Both are only just over quota. Alex Maskey currently sits in third but won't get too many transfers from either since both have running mates. Michael McGimpsey is behind on 2,600, Esmond Birnie 1,804 and Bob Stoker 1,122.
Belfast West
Gerry Adams is safely in. No surprise there.
East Antrim
The DUP's Sammy Wilson's in and his transfers are bing counted now.
East Londonderry
Gregory Campbell is in on the first count. The Ulster Unionists will probably regret running a third candidate.
Fermanagh / South Tyrone
Arlene Foster and Michelle Gildernew both in on firsts. Tom Elliot not far behind in 3rd.
Mid-Ulster
A whopping four candidates in on the first count. McGuinness, Molloy and O'Neill from SF and Willy McCrea's son Ian in for the DUP.
Newry & Armagh
Conor Murphy and Cathal Boylan (SF) are in on the first count.
North Antrim
Paisley is in, as is the Sinn Fein candidate. Paisley Junior will probably follow on Paisley's transfers as he only needs 228.
North Down
Alex Easton, DUP in.
Lagan Valley
Jeffrey 'Northern Ireland fans are all sectarian'* Donaldson is in with a huge surplus on the first count. Quite sickening.
* I'm paraphrasing.
South Down
Caitriona Ruane topped the poll followed by 2 SDLP candidates. Nobody through on firsts.
Strangford
Iris Robinson in on the first count. 3 DUP, 1 Alliance and 1 UUP chasing.
Upper Bann
DUP's David Simpson in on first count along with SF's John O'Dowd.
West Tyrone
Pat Doherty (SF) and Barry McIlduff (SF) are in on the first count.
