The Voice of Violence
Republican Sinn Fein, who organised the "counter-protest" (read riots) against the victims march in Dublin on Saturday had this to say:
"The scenes witnessed in Dublin today only serve to illustrate how out of touch the 26-county political establishment was with the depth of opposition to the routing of a loyalist march through Dublin.
The people of Dublin have shown their rejection of the ideology of sectarian hatred and bigotry represented by those who organised this march. The routing of such a march through Dublin was a completely irresponsible act with scant thought given to the consequences or the dangers it posed to people."
Follow up:
Let me roughly translate:
"The scenes witnessed in Dublin today only serve to illustrate how out of touch republicans are with some of their fellow Irishmen from Ulster with the depth of hatred towards Irishmen marching through Ireland's biggest city.
[Some of] The people of Dublin have shown their rejection of law and order and exposed a dearly-held ideology of sectarian hatred and bigotry expressed through
those who organised the riotsus. Having Irishmen and women march through Dublin was a completely irresponsible act with scant thought given to the consequences or dangers posted to people by us lobbing bricks and bottles at them and setting cars alight."
The sheer cheek that they yesterday replaced their previous homepage with a photo of a few odd-looking chaps with a banner talking about "Uniting Catholic, Protestant and dissenter." They clearly don't have much of a sense of irony.
By the way, as a slight aside for the benefit of Southern readers, I fully appreciate that the views of the lunatics above are not entirely representative of the population of the Republic. Not to be funny or anything, but please consider that the next time you hear about dickheads like this and might be led to tar unionists with the same brush. Not that everyone necessarily would, but it would be an easy mistake to make from down there, especially when that's what Sinn Fein (and Sinn Fein) want you to do.
Oh and same goes for these dickheads and using that brush on Northern Ireland fans.

I totally understand the difference between unionists and the "fans" I have many good unionist friends. we might disagree on somethings like the B specials and Humpherys vs O'Gara. But we are all people after all. We just want the best for our childern.
In the Irish Times Rosin Ingle told of a old woman explaining to a nigerian that the rioters were not like of us. And he said now you know what it is like for us Nigerians. profound I thought. It is nice to see most unionist seem to realise the difference between a normal southerner and the rioters
Good blog by the way. I must add you to my blog roll nest time i am at it.
not ENTIRELY representative Beano?? How about not at all representative!
We will not find a solution to sectarianism by simple chastising those who act upon it, for it is the character of our cultures and society that produces these people (and until we are prepared to concede the faults in our Own societies, we will not be able find their solution
.
"ALL THE HUNS THEY ARE CRYING,BILLY WRIGHT HE LAY DYING,OOH WHAT A WONDERFULL WAY TO PASS THE DAY WATCHING THE BASTARD PASS AWAY,COME ON ALL YOU INBRED HUN BASTARDS JOIN IN ON MY SONG HAHA,FREE FISH ON THE SHANKILL ROAD HAHA,DUBLIN RULES. "
What a bunch of crap!! I just spoke with some friends of mine, and none of us have ever heard this song.
The idea that "Dublin rules" is a northern thing. Southerners - especially Cork, Limerick, other southern counties dislike Dublin's preoccupation with taking care of itself and neglecting others, and it's quite acrimonious when your town needs a bypass, and another 5 billion is spent on Dublins roads.
The Southern nationalist couldn't care less about Billy Wright. Most people don't even know what terrorist organization he was from.
The only time I've ever heard the word hun used referring to a protestant/rangers supporter, was when I wandered into the wrong bar in Derry by accident during a singalong hour.
I'm a southerner, and I can't speak for the northern nationalist. But your impression of the irish nationalist heart is complete claptrap.
I would accept that irish people have a long way to go before acceptance of the Orange Order, but that's nothing against to the ordinary unionist, and it's many degrees calmer than the words of hate in that song you mentioned in your post.
The fact that you posted those lyrics which contained such a degree of vitriol would seem to show that you have an extreme point of view than the average person. I mean, can you stretch your imagination to the idea that sometimes a beating heart is just a beating heart that doesn't hate anybody?
In fact - people sometimes forget, that fellow moderates are your brothers.
That is the one type of unity that we should be able to agree on.
For God's sake! Why don't you come down and visit. Spend some time here, and see what we're really like!
I'd imagine, if anywhere, it's a Dublin thing is it not? I've certainly never heard anyone in Belfast use an expression like that.
